Peter Grunwaldt lives the real Alaska. As CEO of Premier Alaska Tours, Peter Grunwaldt handles the operational aspects of the team including the negotiations of preferred supplier contracts, equipment purchasing and new business development. Mr. Grunwaldt has a long history in the tourism field; his first paying tourism job was as a tour guide aboard the Alaska Railroad in the mid-eighties. He then moved to Denali Park Resorts for a three-year position as the wholesale tour manager and was the operations manager for Regency Cruises from 1993-1995, covering Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.
It was he and his business partner, Tim Worthen's concept in 1995 to provide a top quality, all- Alaskan experience to visitors, and to fill a vacant niche in the market - all land escorted tours throughout Alaska. Premier Alaska Tours now operates a fleet of 33 motorcoaches, with over one hundred seasonal employees and a new maintenance facility for coaches visiting during the summer months.
Having attended college to obtain a degree in teaching, Mr. Grunwaldt sums his career up by saying, "I am extremely fortunate to have started my career in an industry that continues to grow at a rapid pace. For many of our visitors an Alaskan vacation is a dream of a lifetime and we make those dreams come true."
Peter currently holds board seats with the National Tour Association and the Boy Scouts of Alaska Western Council. Recent noteworthy recognitions are being named a Rising Star of Travel Agent Magazine in 2003 & 2004; named one of the Top 40 under 40 in 2005 by Alaska Journal of Commerce; and in 2001 earning the Alaska Travel Industry Association's top award for entrepreneurialism, the Chuck West New Pioneer Award.
